Alpheton Hall Barn wedding photography is always fantastic for bringing the lovely country details of a Suffolk barn. Lisa & Bryn’s wedding was no different and the photographs came out beautifully with all the charm of old barns, flowers, table settings, and a lovely atmosphere as the wedding guests enjoyed the day.
Photography of the Bride’s Preparations on the Morning of the Wedding
Lisa chose to hire a gorgeous cottage for herself and her bridesmaids to get ready on the morning of the wedding. This lent itself beautifully to the detail photographs I like to take, with a real quality to the natural light casting gentle shadows on the dress, shoes and flowers
The bride’s preparation photographs needn’t be too early in the day, in fact, the best time is just before the bride gets changed into her wedding dress. Much earlier in the morning and in fact the girls wont’ be too ready to be photographed, so it’s best for me to spend my time photographing details such as the wedding dress, shoes and flowers, then having the hair or makeup artists return the bride to the chair for photos showing their work.
The Groom Photographed Before the Wedding Ceremony
Bryn had a large set of groomsmen in matching, who I make sure to gather together for a group photo before too many wedding guests arrive. I’ll capture the groom with his groomsmen, then individually with best man and father. After that I ensure to photograph the wedding rings and button-hole flowers, and any other important details. Then I know I’ve taken all the arranged photos I need for now, and the groom can continue to greet guests as they arrive for the wedding and not worry about being asked for photos by their photographer!

The Wedding Ceremony Photography at Alpheton Hall Barns
Whether using the barn for a civil marriage, or Alpheton Church for a religious wedding ceremony, the registrar or vicar are always kind enough to allow me to take important photographs during the wedding ceremony. They understand the importance of these photos and know I’ll be discrete an unobtrusive during these times.
Photography After the Wedding Ceremony
Straight from any wedding ceremony I prefer to leave everyone to mingle, and congratulate the bride and groom. I think this is an important time of the day, and also a great opportunity for casual photographs showing the atmosphere of the day.
Arranging Wedding Group Photographs
As the wedding photographer at any wedding, a large part of the timing is left down to me. I’ll always liaise closely with the venue and catering staff, therefore I’ll be aware what time they need me to be finish taking photos. With that knowledge it’s down to me to step in when the time is right and suggest to the bride and groom that we gather together the family group photos. These can be as few or as many as any client asks me for, but without being given a list to work from I’ll always gather the obvious group photos; parents, siblings and wedding party, followed by a large gathering of each side of each family. I follow that with the entire wedding gathered together, and finishing with the confetti photograph.
Romantic and Relaxed Wedding Photography at Alpheton Hall Barn
After the time spent gathering different family members for the more formal group photographs, it’s then lovely for the bride and groom to take a break and go for a quiet stroll around the grounds at Alpheton Hall.
The style of the photography for these romantic wedding photographs is, as you can hopefully see, very relaxed. I love a walking photograph, where I’ll select a lovely setting, but not really ask for any posing at all. Any photo that could be considered posed is really only using very simple prompts. Every couple has a different way of interacting with each other, and I ask for simple way to hold each other close, hold hands, or which way to look, to capture images that always feel relaxed; never forced.
